Job Summary

The Site Engineer is a field-based technical role responsible for supporting the deployment, installation, operation, and maintenance of Chalatex’s smart farming and IoT systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that on-site systems—such as smart irrigation, sensors, controllers, and network infrastructure are installed correctly, operate reliably, and meet client needs. The Site Engineer works closely with the Technical Manager and internal teams to conduct site surveys, install systems, troubleshoot issues, and support farmers and institutional clients in using Chalatex technology effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Attend daily or weekly briefings with the Technical Manager to understand objectives and assigned tasks.
Conduct site surveys at farms or project locations to assess technical requirements and determine installation feasibility.
Install, configure, and test smart farming hardware and system components (sensors, controllers, irrigation systems, communication devices).
Perform system setup, calibration, and commissioning in accordance with technical guidelines.
Conduct routine maintenance and on-site troubleshooting to ensure system reliability.
Communicate clearly with clients during installation and maintenance activities.
Document site activities and regularly update progress to the Technical Manager.
Participate actively in technical training sessions to understand Chalatex’s systems, standards, and workflows.
Join weekly technical meetings and contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

Minimum 1 year of hands-on field experience in engineering, technical installation, maintenance, or site-based work (electrical, mechanical, electronics, irrigation, or related).
Proven ability to work in outdoor and rural field conditions, including farms, muddy areas, heat, rain, and long travel.
Strong physical endurance, patience, and resilience—field work requires consistency, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues directly on-site.
Willingness to learn and adapt to smart farming, IoT systems, and irrigation technologies.
Comfortable using basic tools, equipment, and mobile devices for installation, testing, and reporting.
Able to follow technical instructions, safety procedures, and project guidelines.
Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with team members and clients during field operations.
Responsible, disciplined, and committed to completing assigned field tasks.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with smart irrigation systems, pumps, valves, or water control equipment.
Familiarity with IoT hardware such as sensors, controllers, or gateways used in field deployments.
Basic knowledge of electrical wiring or control panels for low-voltage systems.
Experience working in farms, rural areas, or outdoor installation environments.
Valid motorbike or driving license with willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
